My favorite part of this is Kelduum having enough common sense to ask CCP about the isk but still getting butthurt when it turns out that his suspicions were accurate. Jayson Kassis wrote:I am bothered by the fact that if "John" was cheating then why was he able to keep his ISK? That tells me that players are being suspended for botting but are able to keep the profits from doing so. Perhaps this is nothing new but this policy alone is enough to keep players cheating constantly.
I don't believe CCP had a right to confiscate the ISK if they allowed the "John" to keep it in the first place.
CCP Sreegs said it was a mistake that they didn't take the money the first time around. It wasn't an intentional decision to allow the original character to keep the isk.
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2601402#post2601402 for him saying that. "Look any reason why you need to talk like that? I have now reported you. I dont need to listen to your bad tone. If you cant have a grown up conversation then leave the thread[" |

Meritsa wrote:The same could be said about using multiboxing tools (Wich I think should all be clearly explained to be bannable offenses as you can see the talk going in other threads) that he wasn't using a bot, he just handled multiple clients through one "gateway" if I understood that text correctly..
This would make his explanation even LESS plausible if true. Multiboxing software simply replicates commands - you click your strip miner on one, it activates on all the clients opened by said software.
The wrinkle with this botter was the speed in which he was updating orders - Kelduum's original post that started he would update "30 orders a minute for 10 to 20 minutes at a time". That works out to 1 order modified every two seconds, sustained for 10 minutes. That's pretty much impossible to do with a single client; Multiboxing software isn't going to make that any faster (if anything, having multiple clients open would likely slow it down due to system lag). All of his talk about custom browser pages and API tools are all irrelevant when you consider the actual work of updating the orders was being done far quicker than otherwise possible.

Jayson Kassis wrote:Not sure why the hate is directed towards the CSM. He had to do CCPs job by reporting in the shady ISK. Something tells me that few people would be noble enough to report in 300billion ISK so I think the man deserves a bit of respect. CCP's approach was all around sloppy. How is it that you forget to confiscate the 300billion ISK? I don't even get how human error can come into play here.
The "human error" was CCP not removing the isk from the botter before he could transfer it to E-Uni. Also, it's dishonest as hell to try to spin Kelduum reporting the isk to CCP as some kind of altruistic act - he did it because he knew full well that if CCP ever realized that they'd had that isk transferred to them by a known botter, they'd take it from E-Uni instantly anyway (and most likely with 0 regards as to whether E-Uni even has the money anymore, which is the same problem people who bought RMT'd isk face when they get caught).
Jayson Kassis wrote:The CSM only wanted answers and perhaps selfishly felt like he deserved them. To be honest, I don't blame him. CCP should have cleared it up with him before it was made public.
Only one responsible is CCP. It's not fair that they mess up and the blame gets directed at the person who had to report it to the public. Regardless of where the ISK came from, it did belong to the university after CCP had "reviewed the matter".
That's just it - he DID get an answer, he just didn't like what the answer was. He admitted himself he was told the guy was a botter and that no, E-Uni couldn't keep any of the isk. It doesn't get much more straightforward than that - he asked but hoped he would get to keep some isk, found out he couldn't, and pitched a fit about it. I mean really, his first "obvious question" that he asked when told that the isk was being confiscated was "BUT CAN'T WE KEEP ~SOME~ OF IT???". "Look any reason why you need to talk like that? I have now reported you. I dont need to listen to your bad tone. If you cant have a grown up conversation then leave the thread[" |
